Product Data Management and Enhancement Services

Pivotree’s data services practice runs the product catalog work that sits in the backlog indefinitely because of resource constraints. Our work is scoped to what you actually have and sized to what you actually need.

Data as a discipline, not just a service.

When a catalog problem gets funded, it usually gets funded once, because a single approval against a defined deliverable is what a budget cycle is built to handle. That’s often the right call, and plenty of this work does close for good: a data model rebuilt properly doesn’t need rebuilding, and a taxonomy designed for the channels you actually sell on will hold for years.

What doesn’t close is the set of conditions that broke the data to begin with. Suppliers send files in whatever format suits them and change it without telling you, new channels arrive with attribute requirements nobody has seen before, and the SKU count climbs past what the model was scoped for. Our Strategic Data Services team helps you build the discipline beyond the deliverable.

Data Modeling & Taxonomy Design

The schema underneath the catalog and the categories your buyer navigates. We design or rebuild both — attributes, hierarchies, relationships, and channel-specific variants — so they hold across every channel you sell on now and the ones merchandising is already planning for. Most catalog problems are a modeling problem two levels down.

Data Enhancement

We organize, standardize, and connect your product data, classifying it for discoverability, normalizing it for accuracy, enriching it for usability, and linking related products together. We also offer a library of over 13 million channel-ready SKUs sourced directly from manufacturers.

Classification & Normalization

Raw vendor data classified against your taxonomy, and normalized so that units, formats and naming stop disagreeing between one supplier and the next. This is the work that makes filters function and gets search returning the product the shopper asked for.

Data Readiness for a Migration

Don’t pay to move the same data problems into a more expensive system. We get the data into shape before you move: a gap analysis against the target schema, enrichment where attributes were never captured, then the migration itself with reconciliation at every checkpoint.

Justify the work before you commit the budget.

Most organizations know their data needs work, but can’t defend a six-figure project without proof that it will get results. Figure out where to start and what the return will be with a Data Transformation Pilot.

Data enhancement as a service

For teams that need ongoing data ops support, we offer a monthly Data Enhancement subscription. We ingest raw product data from wherever it lives, transform it against your taxonomy, fill the attribute gaps, and deliver channel-ready records into your PIM, MDM or commerce platform.

You get regular planning sessions plus a monthly session with an information architect for the taxonomy and data-model decisions that surface as the catalog grows. Monthly reporting covers SKUs processed, attribute completeness, and accuracy against the standards we set together.

Data Enhancement subscriptions are the right call when:

You’ve got new SKUs arriving every week and multiple channels to sell them through.

Your team is losing 20+ hours a week to data work, and the backlog grows anyway.

New products take four to six weeks to go live and data prep is the reason.

You’ve priced out an internal enrichment team and the loaded cost was too high.

Ascend Catalog Diagnostics

Get access to the same diagnostic dashboard we use for paid data projects with no charge and no commitment. Plug in your own data and get a fast read on which SKUs are worth fixing and which aren’t. It’s free forever unless you want us to do the work, which is a different conversation.

Product Data Management & Enhancement FAQs

Many catalogs need both, and we can help you figure it out. If the data model is wrong, fix that as a project first, because a subscription pointed at a broken schema spends its capacity working around it. If what you’re fighting is volume and upkeep, you might start with the Data Enhancement subscription. If you need proof that the data is the real problem before you commit, our Data Transformation Pilot will give you the evidence you need.

No. We can work with an export from whatever system contains your product data today. If you’re not on a PIM yet, we can do the modeling and taxonomy work that determines what shape your data needs to be in before you pick one (if you need one).

It depends on the work in front of you. A taxonomy redesign for a single category might be six to eight weeks. A full data model rebuild ahead of a PIM migration can run a quarter or more. An enrichment project against an acquired catalog is sized by SKU count and complexity. The first conversation is a scoping session — we figure out what you actually need before quoting anything.

Strategy, merchandising, supplier and channel relationships, pricing. The category-level decisions that depend on knowing your business better than any vendor ever will. We take the SKU-by-SKU grind off the plate so those hours go where they were hired to go.

Four to six weeks to stand up the source and target integrations, agree the taxonomy, and set the quality standards. Enriched records start flowing during those weeks rather than after them.

Yes, and plenty do, but it isn’t a required path and we don’t scope projects as a lead-in to one.

Let’s scope your data project.

Tell us what’s in front of you—a category that’s underperforming, a migration sitting on the calendar, a data model that’s started to creak, a taxonomy nobody trusts anymore. Our practice lead will run a scoping session, sketch the project, and tell you what it would cost. Whether you move forward is your call.
